It is important to know that you will not see a change in your bill except for the lower amount due. CL&P or UI will continue to send you a statement each month. If you are on a budget plan you can stay on it. You will still receive service from your current electric company if there is a power outage. Signing up simply designates to CL&P or UI where they should buy the power you use. When you deposit cash into your savings account and then withdraw cash at a later date you do not get the same bills back. The same with electric power, what comes through the lines into your home or business does not change only where CL&P or UI buys it.
